Uplifting Story - How I researched about my child being deaf and the answers I found

I had a personal experience with research and don’t mind sharing it with others. When I had my youngest child was born deaf and this discouraged me so I began to do research on how this could happen when myself or her dad didn’t have a family history of hearing impairment. I viewed a website that I thought would help me understand the why and how of it- www.deafchildworldwide.info/. I found out that it could have been a problem in my pregnancy such as rubella, herpes or any other complications that could have existed. During the research the doctors were trying to figure out how and what they could do to help. I sat down and thought about there was no herpes, no rubella and later on found out from her dad’s family his grandfather was deaf. I didn’t find out she was deaf until she was 7 months. This research did help me to understand what could happen during a pregnancy if you don’t receive the proper care. My daughter did get healed from deaf because of prayers and my faith in God. I now am able to talk to families about what I went through but also talk to them about having faith and believing everything is possible with God.

I chose Anti-Bias Education as my research simulation project for this course. Ichose this subject because most families and educators deal with bias in their lives and I want to find out information to help them with being Anti-bias in their lives and how to communicate with others and know they are important people and have a right to a quality education.

My personal experience with this subject is I worked with a educator in the past and she was not able to grasp working with minorities because she came from a all white town. The families we provide service for are from low income status and she would try and fuss at them for being late or ifthey didn't have minutes on their phone. I was bothered by this and decided to talk to her about she has to remember what families we are working with but it didn't matter she said she was the Lead Teacher and it would go her way. Needless to say it didn't end well she end up getting fired because of how she treated me and the families.

I would like if any of my colleagues could provide me with resources on Anti-bias education but also how do you help a co-worker when this subject comes about? Listed below is one book I would like to order for my classroom.
