Who am I as a Communicator???

This week's assignment really allowed for an opportunity to participate in a communication assessment. I completed several evaluations and it helped me to become aware of somethings about myself. I had two of my co-workers evaluate me and it was close in scores. I questioned myself if it was going to be worse or was there score going to be worse.

I evaluated myself and it was better than expected. I had a score of 64 in my communication category and I thought that was a great range. I am not verbal aggressive and was glad of that. I can be polite to people but need to be more of a listener. This evaluation has shown me that I could be people oriented if I work on it.

  1. I had my husband and father in law each take the quizzes for me because I figured they know me best and will give accurate answers. There were many similarities in how I evaluated myself and how my husband and father in law evaluated me. I gained insights about myself that I feel uncomfortable and uneasy in some communication situations but confident in other situations. I learned that I can maintain a good balance between respect and consideration for others’ viewpoints and the ability to argue fairly by attacking the facts of a position rather than the person holding that position. I do not mind communicating in small group settings or one on one but I do not feel comfortable communicating in front of a large audience.
